Phone Systems

The State EOC phone switch provides telephone drops to approximately 270 extensions.  Satellite phone lines and backup off-site lines are hard-wired into the State EOC for redundancy.  Select ADEM staff members are authorized to use the Government Emergency Telecommunications Service (GETS) and Wireless Priority Service (WPS) in order to gain priority on clogged land line and cellular networks, respectively. 

There are five (5) dedicated, ring-down land lines available to the State EOC.  These special circuits are terminated in the Governor's office, the Department of Public Safety (DPS), the Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency (ARRA), Maricopa County Sheriff and Department of Emergency Management, and various locations within the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station.

ADEM provides satellite phones to county EOC’s and communications vehicles, along with key government staff.  A cache of six (3) satellite phones are kept at the State EOC for rapid deployment.
