Description: The Introduction to the CAMEO Suite course is provided through Louisiana State University's National Center for Biomedical Research and Training. This CAMEO course (Computer Aided Management of Emergency Operations), provides performance-level training to emergency response personnel, principally by training representatives of local and state agencies who respond to intentional acts (such as bombings; hostage situations; biological, chemical, and nuclear attacks; and, arson); natural occurrence (such as hurricanes, tornadoes, disease outbreaks, range/forest fires, and floods); or accidental events (such as chemical spills, explosions, train derailments, and structure fires). Participants should express a willingness to work with other emergency service and response agencies in utilizing the CAMEO Suite; express an appreciation for the value of collecting, managing, and sharing emergency planning and response information with all emergency response personnel within their local community; and express a willingness to gain an appreciation for pre-incident planning.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of IS-700: NIMS: An Introduction is required and can be completed at www.training.fema.gov. Also, basic personal computer skills and knowledge are required, and familiarity with databases, spreadsheets, and digital mapping is preferred
Target Audience: The primary audience for this course includes all types of emergency response personnel including fire, law enforcement, emergency medical technicians, public health officials, and emergency managers
Registration: Participants need to enroll by 15 Nov 2009 in order to secure a place in the class, and to ensure the course minimum is met. Registration may occur after this deadline, but there will be no guarantee of available seats.
