Description: The Pandemic Influenza Planning and Preparedness course is being provided in cooperation with the Mesa Public Safety Training Center and the Center for Domestic Preparedness, Noble Training Center staff. PIPP is a three-day training course providing an overview of pandemic influenza, its challenges, and many facets of community planning that will enable a community to prepare and effectively respond to a pandemic influenza event. Following lectures regarding various aspects of influenza and pandemic influenza, the course culminates in an all-day exercise that casts planning and management level responders in a community role where he or she must participate in the planning process to prepare a fictitious community for pandemic influenza. As part of their 24 contact hours for this course, planning and management level responders will experience the outcome of the planning process as the beginning of an outbreak unfolds in a community.

Prerequisites: PIPP is designed for candidates that have successfully completed the IS700: NIMS Introduction Course offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This course can be complete on-line at www.training.fema.gov.

Target Audience: Healthcare, Public Health, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Law Enforcement, Emergency Management Agency (EMA), Fire Service, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT), Public Works, Governmental Administrative, Public Safety Communications,.
Registration: Participants need to enroll by 10 July 2009 in order to secure a place in the class, and to ensure the course minimum is met. Registration may occur after this deadline, but there will be no guarantee of available seats.
All who sign up will initially be waitlisted until eligibility can be confirmed.

Costs: Training is provided at no cost to eligible participants. Funding for this program does not include lunch or refreshments, so please bring what you need.
