Description: This 8-hour Training Assistance Visit presents a study of the principles and procedures for mass casualty patient decontamination and the associated equipment in a hospital environment. Students undergo a rigorous analysis of issues including hospital decontamination for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) threats and the use of personal protective equipment. Students perform decontamination in a contaminated [simulated] environment. As in all Technical Assistance hands-on evolutions, safety is stressed throughout the Training Visit.
Prerequisites: Familiarity with hazardous materials and protective equipment is beneficial

Target Audience: Members of Hospital Decontamination Teams, Triage Personnel, Emergency Department Personnel, Hospital Support Staff, Hospital Administrators
Registration: Participants should enroll by 10 Nov 2009 in order to secure a place in the class, and to ensure the course minimum is met. Registration may occur after this deadline, but there will be no guarantee of available seats.
